How will my relationship with my first dog change if I get a second one?

I've always seen myself as a two dog person and am finally at the point in my life where I can have a second dog. Plus my first dog's really dog social and would love to have a buddy. But I'm wondering about me. How will things change between us if I get him a pal? Namely will we become more distant? He's a snuggle bunny now but I'm afraid he won't want to cuddle as much if he has a best friend.
