Whats better: An Epiphone Les Paul Standard or An Epiphone SG G-400?

i don't know the tech stuff, but i love the sound of a Les Paul. i'm reading a book about about Slash. he said he's had the same guitar for years (a Les Paul) and he's never been able to get it to sound again like it did on "Appetite". there's so many variables.
