Gold panning michigan streams.?

I would like to know a little bit of help with gold panning in michigan streams, namely between negaunee and marquette, by dead river and dead river basin. how deep must i dig in feet, and what are some places i can go? lcations for fine/ flour/ placer gold? small nuggets? any help appreciated, and thanks for the info.
